From potluck to football party to appetizer

It's that time of year for potlucks, football parties and appetizers.  We want to stay healthy and avoid overindulging, but oh those goodies are just too much.  Or maybe you actually have the willpower to say no and stick to the good stuff.  I find that bringing a healthy snack or dish to the party helps me because I often end up eating a good portion of it!

Safe Passage: They Followed Their Stars

Safe Passage: They Followed Their Stars

A week ago I was in a horrible reading slump and nothing was interesting or holding my attention. Then the postal service got on board and delivered some books that I had ordered from The Book Depository in the UK. One of the books was Ida Cook's republished memoir Safe Passage, originally published as We Followed Our Stars. It drop-kicked me out of my slump. It fascinated me and reminded me that when one puts their mind to something the simplest deeds can yield the biggest results.

Why I Love the Cheapness

Why I Love the Cheapness

Ok, so first things first...I am a slave to the cheapness. There's just no other way to say it!  I...Love...Cheap...almost as much as I love free.  It's like a sickness. Now, don't get me wrong: I'm all about the quality (my word, I still have shoes from high school - and yes, they're still fabulous).

I think that I am reliving my childhood
by TenishaD

I think that I am reliving my childhood

It all started out so casual,  so innocent and so so unnoticed. I walked around whistling little tunes not paying them any mind. It was like I did not realize the truth or I could not come to terms with what was going on. My oldest daughter was my first excuse, than I found two more and it was ever so easy to hide behind them. I wonder to my self has everyone else figured it out , does my husband notice, do the kids listen when I think they are asleep. I tried to cover up the songs on my mp3  player, erase my history off of my dvr but its too late.
