i am having a terrible time with breaks when posting a blog. (i.e. they seem to have a mind of their own, appearing after some paragraphs and refusing after others)... anyone help?

Are you using the rich text editor? Are you copying/pasting from another program? Are you clicking preview and if you are does it look ok in preview?

Click the "plain text" icon
It sounds like it is carrying over some formatting from wherever you are copying. Next time, click the "plain text" icon (it's the clipboard with the "T") and paste into that popup box. That should strip whatever is causing the formatting to go awry.
