As the token gaming mom here at BlogHer, I would be remiss if I did not list for you some of the top games of 2007. (The list is not nearly complete and will vary depending on who you talk to, but this is my top ten mix and match games of 2007 for your gaming pleasure.) Gamers. Gaming families. We can be quite a picky lot. We tell friends and family that we love receiving all things gaming but when we open that box and see something somewhat akin to Pong circa 1972, we grumble. I want you people to be in the know. Besides, many of you may have received gift cards or cash and what better way to spend those than on games? (None for this gaming mom!) Teens can either be really, really easy to shop for or really, really difficult to shop for. I should know. With six kids ranging in ages, nine to 24, I've experienced it all. There was the year my really cool teen wanted "Tickle Me Elmo" and that was just about all she wanted. This year, I have a teen who flat out refused to make a wish list - that's a first, seriously. When I was asked to create a list of gifts for book lovers I knew I was going to do something that would surprise some you. You see, my list...it doesn't have any real books on it. Nary a novel, biography or collection of short stories for you to sit down and read. My reasoning is quite simple really - unless you know the person that you are buying the books for very well you run the risk of buying someone a book they already have read, own, hate, or worse, find offensive. This whole Santa letter gig is new to me. My parents never tried to get me to believe in Santa Claus. They were pretty religious (to the extent I never got to watch any movie with a witch in it, not even a Halloween one), so they told me Christmas was all about Jesus’s birth and all that secular Santa stuff was a load of bull. I outed Santa to several kids at school, much to their parent's chagrin.
