Let me just start by saying I'm marginally crafty. And by that, I mean there is a wide margin between me and craft. I admire my craft-and-food-blogging colleagues. I look at their gorgeous photographs showcasing works of art created by their own hand, and then I go pop dinner in the microwave and gaze happily at my store-bought clothes and photo albums stuffed with my daughter's unorganized and unlabeled art.

Last week while I was on vacation, my Grandmother passed away. She was frail, and ill and ready to be released from this mortal coil. And so it is with both sorrow and contentment that we greet her passing and honor her memory. This means, that for the first time this year, her icon will join Grandpa's on our mantelpiece as we celebrate Día de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead.
The lights are lit. The windows are bright. The bells are ringing. It must be New York City in December.
I took a chilly stroll along Fifth Avenue yesterday and put together a little photo album of some of the best lights and windows New York has to offer.
My favorites are the Bergdorf Windows. They're not Christmas windows in the strictest sense, but they're intricate and festive and for me, a pure delight.

People, THIS was a really hard assignment. I mean REALLY HARD. And it shouldn't have been. All I wanted to do was find some great crafty fun Holiday Decoration ideas that grown ups could enjoy doing themselves. Not the glue-and-glitter crafts for kids, but something with a little panache, a little taste, something, well, grown up. I didn't think it would be that hard.
I Googled, I Technorati'ed, I del.icio.us'ed, I BlogLined, I Craftstered, I HGTV'ed, I Instructabled. What did I miss?

This week I've been catching up on all the wonderful things happening in the blogs. I'll admit, though, that too often a blog will take me to another blog or YouTube; one leads to another and I'm lost for an hour or more. I mean, can someone explain how I ended up watching Daft Hands - Technologic about 10 times? Well, I'm sure you've been there yourself. The next thing you know, the family is begging for supper or clean clothes and you're wondering where your week went!
Let's see...
