Madonna and Me

Madonna and Me

Like many other women, I imagine, I have a love-hate relationship with Madonna. Some days I find her liberating and inspiring, while at other times, well, I guess I'm just jealous. For sure, Madonna gets women thinking and talking about themselves. But recently, I must say, I have been just a little disappointed.

BlogHer '08 - was it filmed?

BlogHer '08 - was it filmed?

Unfortunately, I was not able to attend BlogHer '08 :-(
However like last year, I tried to attend via Second Life, though thanks to computer problems and network issues, this year was very difficult. Was BlogHer '08 filmed? In other words, was there a camera rolling for each speaker/event and if so, can that be posted to YouTube or some other video site so that those of us who weren't able to physically get to the conference, can see it?

Thanks!

My first blog

OK...

So I've taken the plunge and decided to start a blog.  I guess my blog will mainly be devoted to eating right and recipes that I am trying on a daily and weekly basis.

The Zero-Waste Town

The Zero-Waste Town

In Kamikatsu, Japan you will not find a garbage can in any of the town's homes, and there is no dump anywhere around. This is because the resourceful residents must compost all waste from their food, and sort other trash into 34 separate categories, with sections for plastic bottles, razor blades, Styrofoam, and various other items.

exercise and food

I have started to exercise again after almost a week. You’ll all agree it’s necessary after all the cakes and sweets I have been cooking. They all seem to contain so many calories, but I don’t care! They are so good, especially since they now look so cute with the decorating class I’ve been taking. Yes, it’s very fun! They should teach us that in chef school, sad face!

Dwelling on Dwell

Note: Cross posted at Dwell on These Things.

I love Sundays. Not because I get to
sleep in (with kids? Ha!) Not because I get to go out for brunch
(again, with kids? Ha!) I love them for the sermons.

What do you say to a friend with cancer?

What do you say to a friend with cancer?

This is not a blog where I tell you what to say.

This is a blog where I ask, "What do you say?" My dear friend has stage 4 Melanoma. She has 3 children and a father dying of cancer and a brother that recently died of cancer.

Copyright Law Basics

Many people ask why register a work with the U.S. Copyright office if copyright ownership is automatic upon the creation of certain works.

The first advantage is that registration with the U.S. Copyright office provides a date certain that can be referenced to determine when you became the owner of the work, just in case someone else claims to be the owner of the same work.

Becoming a Reusable Shopping Bag Lady

Becoming a Reusable Shopping Bag Lady

For years environmentalists have been promoting reusable shopping bags to cut down on the amount of plastic bag waste generated by grocery stores. Although I loved this idea in theory, I must confess I've been a slow adopter. I found it hard to remember to take bags to the store, and often the bags were too small. Now I've found a bag that works for me, and I'm finally developing the reusable shopping bag habit.
