An Amazing Parade of Indian Food
by Kalyn Denny

Today is Independence Day in India, a holiday to recognize the date India became a free state in 1947. To celebrate the event, one of the best known Indian food bloggers, the talented Indira of Mahanandi, has organized an amazing Independence Day Food Parade, featuring not only photos of varied and delicious looking dishes from every region of India, but also Indian music to listen to while you read about the food. Don't miss it!

Contributing editor Kalyn Denny blogs at Kalyn's Kitchen where she aspires to cook more Indian dishes, but so far has only attempted Curried Rice and Red Lentils.

Indian Food is one of my favourites

I really wish Indira lived next door to me or something! Her blog is one of the best.

Drooling

Sam, what a great fantasy, living next door to Indira. I'd love to live next door to her. My brother's partner Bradley loves Indian food and he says her blog makes him drool on the keyboard!

I love Indian food

Besides friends and family, Indian food (and Thai and sushi) is what I miss the most now that I live in Wyoming. Indira's blog is awesome, but reading it is torture for me!

Community

And the Indian food bloggers have a wonderful sense of community, too, that's really inspiring.

As an Indian living in US, I

As an Indian living in US, I often visit Indira's blog for meal ideas and the parade she hosted to celebrate India's Independence Day was really wonderful. All the entries and the Indian classical music that accompanied the parade, I think she put together a fabulous parade and I love her for that. She writes from her heart and I like her blog for that reason.

Kaijsa Calkins: Badmouthing people is your specialty, isn't it? Your comment about Indira’s blog is judgmental and mean spirited. Sounds like serious case of jealousy, that nobody is reading your snooze-worthy ramblings that you pen so terribly at your blog?

btw, you look fat and ugly, how is that for straight talk!:)

Bharat-what are you talking about?

Seriously, Kaijsa's comment is praising Indira's blog as "awesome", and complaining how it's "torture" to read it because she lives in Wyoming where she can't get the Indian food she loves.

You have grievously misunderstood her and owe her a big apology.

[Even if she had criticized Indira's blog, which she didn't, I believe your personal attack may cross the boundaries of our community guidelines, which you can read here. And I don't think a smiley face mitigates such attacks on a person rather than their ideas.]

I urge you to re-read the comments and re-think your own comment.

Thanks Elisa

Kaijsa, yours is not the first such comment to be so grievously misunderstood, nor will it be the last. Let's get take-out at my local Indian buffet next time you're in the Bay area.

Great post Kalyn!
