Mom-Me-Oh! SupermomTrading Cards
by Mary Tsao

Contributing Editor Mary Tsao also blogs at Mom Writes.

Helene from Adventures in Parenthood started a Supermom Trading Card Gallery on Flickr and is asking all blogging mommies to make a trading card and tag it smtradecard in Flickr so that it appears in the gallery.

Helene is hoping that by Mother's Day, at least 100 moms will join her in her quest to prove that every mom is a supermom. For instructions on how you can join the supermom trading card club, check out Helene's blog.

I found this a really neat idea and I.AM.LOVING the witty and pithy phrases moms are coming up with to describe themselves. I'm also meeting new (to me) mommybloggers, and that's always exciting. Check out some of these supermom mommybloggers for yourself. I dare you not to laugh out loud when you read about their "super powers." If you make a trading card, let us know in comments so we can go have a chuckle at your super powers, super mom!

Helene's super powers mean she is able to "leap over laundry obstacles in a single bound, hush tears (even in the face of a monumental meltdown), and pull a spur-of-the-moment craft idea out of an imaginary hat."

Andrea from A Peek Inside the Fish Bowl has the uncanny ability to "see anything going on going on behind her, sense trouble brewing in the other room, run faster than a runaway toddler, and shatter glass with a single shout."

Daren from Rhoades Trip has the skills to "totally convince baby to go to sleep...eventually; complete the laundry, toy, and pet obstacle course; and convince herself that dust is a protective layer on furniture."

Yonzie from ieatcrayonz "takes multitasking to great heights with responsibilities including, but not limited to: working full-time, doing 98% of the laundry, cleaning the house, paying all of the bills, and buying all of the groceries!" She adds that "sadly enough, SuperDad lost his powers long ago when he and SuperMom married."

Mindy from The Mommy Blog lets us know she is "found in the kitchen, rarely showers before noon, that teachers have never seen her with makeup, and that the UPS guy sees her more than her mother does."

Sherry from Chaos Theory has the ability to "play soccer with pre-schooler while carrying baby in Mei Tei, play Snakes and Ladders while breastfeeding, read Dr. Seuss stories by heart, and wash dishes while performing rousing rendition of The Ants Go Marching One By One."

BlogHer's own Liz Thompson from This Full House lets us know she can "listen and respond to several conversations...at the same time, distract at any single moment...especially with a quick game of I Spy while flipping obnoxious traffic the bird, apply lip gloss and mascara...in less time than it takes a traffic light to turn green, and melt steel with a single mommy look."

Uma from Ambivalence explains that she is "capable of holding a 9.4 kilo child on a hip and four heavy grocery bags on the opposite arm while ascending three stories by foot, understands the unique Muffin babbling and some of his gestures with accuracy, and has developed a new set of eyes on the back of her head."

Jamie from Blond Mom Blog is "able to leap over Little People in a single bound, has wonder mommy peripheral vision...great for catching those sneak the booger moments, is a multitasker extraordinaire, and gives magic hugs and kisses."

Mrs. Flinger has super powers that include "wrangling toddler in to diaper while running, holding squirmy toddler and Starbucks Americano simultaneously (without spilling!), and can grab a yogurt covered spoon just in the nick of time before watching it splat on the kitchen floor...every time."

Krisco from Crib Ceiling wants us to know that she has the ability "to look completely heinous--even when only super tired, to distinguish which little feet are making the sounds of little feet in the hall at night, to make five dinners in one night--none of which will be eaten in whole, but that she's happy to do it (all) anyway!"

Foodmomiac is able to "cook gourmet meals while holding a squirmy baby; make even the most exotic foods seem enticing to a preschooler; and juggle a monster house, fulltime job, high maintenance husband, and two wild kids with grace (or at least without being committed.)"

Momto2junebabies advises of super powers that include "diplomacy (mediating sibling battles), organization (knowing where everyone's stuff is even when they don't), interpretation of foreign languages (toddler-ese), and multitasking (doing no less than four things simultaneously.)"

Renee from FroggieMom confesses to "learning to deal with hormonal 10-year old girl on a daily basis, trying to prevent the Jan Brady syndrome from occurring in 8-year old daughter, running after 19-month old boy (with max sustained winds of 150 mph) to prevent destruction of her house, and loving every minute of it."

Vicky from Desperate to be a Housewife is "able to leap tall buildings, schedule dentist appointments, make lunches, plan birthday parties, prepare crafts for 30 Girl Guides, do laundry, and complete most projects...all at the last.possible.minute!"
