Oprah is running a series of shows on Fridays with her latest diet - a debt diet. Three families are being counseled by different financial experts and the series follows their efforts to get out of deep debt and pull their lives together. The aspect of the series I've found most fascinating is the way in which these problems arise for all the families because they are seemingly so numb and unconscious to their own lives. So far none of the dieters seems prepared to wake up, so it will be interesting to see how their stories unfold. However, there's not enough time to really show how the problems are being addressed in-depth so I would imagine viewers seeking to go on the diet might end up frustrated. (There is more information on the website.)
Make Love, Not Debt has a post about the series, and they received a comment that struck them because of the genuine cry for help.
But now I feel invisible they look at my credit and basically say go away. The older I get the smaller I feel. I have always been out going but I am less and less myself everyday. it's like quicksand I can't get out.
MLND's Her reaches out and offers the commenter, Veni, a customized diet based on MLND's experience working on their problems for the past 18 months.
