Yes, Whole Foods has sold out of the 20,000 available bags as the frenzy over the Anya Hindmarch I'm Not A Plastic Bag bag continues.
Early today, hundreds of people lined up at Whole Foods locations in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut to purchase the bags. New York City stores had about 2,900 each to sell while each suburban location had 300 bags. Read more about how the I'm Not A Plastic Bag Frenzy Continues.

More sustainable idea than this?
Wouldn't it be even more eco-conscious to bring your own bags lying around the house rather than spend money on something ($300!!!) that had to be manufactured and shipped, meaning it uses up resources? I'm definitely not an eco nazi, because I have used more than my share of plastic bags, but really.... Gotta give Whole Foods some credit for coming up with a good idea, though, I guess! :)

Just checked eBay and I found bags at over $300. Check it out! I've read there are counterfeit bags being sold on eBay-so buyers beware!
Heard about this on Glen Beck
Since we don't have a Whole Foods around here, I didn't know anything about this until tonight when I saw a rant by Glen Beck. He made a good point about the "I'm Not a Plastic Bad" being put in a plastic bag.
Denise - I just saw one on Ebay ending in 2 minutes for $314.06.

I know, it's insane, isn't it?
I don't understand why anyone would pay that much for a bag. heh.

Wow! Is it the double entendre that is the real appeal here? Whomever came up with the phrase is a genius.

It is genius
Or people, and Americans in particular, are insane. Or some combination of the two.
I'm tempted to rant about people spending $300 for a tote bag when they could write that check and help give a disabled person a wheelchair....
But yes, marketing genius.

I like the idea. You can't
I like the idea. You can't make too many, because if they're too easy to get then people won't want them as badly (hey my marketing class last year taught me something!). But people use way too many plastic bags and it's so horrible for the environment. I'm trying to get my aunt to use the ones we have as garbage bags.
