Should your nonprofit blog?
by Beth Kanter

The donorpowerblog asks and answers "Should your nonprofit blog?"    The post begins with some points to nonprofit blogging advocates, including a well thought out article called "Why Non-profits Should Blog"

Next, there is a short list of reasons why not ...

1.  Not that many people are reading blogs.  (Mentions some statistics, but doesn't site sources)
2.  It takes time to produce a good blog and it might be the best use of time resources
3.  You can't precisely define your target audience

(Hmm .. I think there are some other reasons too and we will cover these in an upcoming blogging panel at NTC)

This is followed by the "Reasons Why You Should Do It Anyway"

1.   It's here to stay, start now, and you'll be an old hand by the time it happens.  Experience is valuable.
2.   Blogs can change how you interact with your audience.  (Guess we should say small audience)

What are your ideas about the pros and cons of blogging for nonprofits?
