Friendship From a Distance
by Beth Kanter

The Young Caucasus Women Project begins its second week.  Blogher and mentor Lisa Hinely, writes this introductory post on the topic of  "Friendship from a Distance."
She writes not only of geographical distance in miles, but a more
challenging distance to friendship - deep chasm in religious belief,
political affiliation, or personal moral values.   This is also a
student post from a student named Leyla.

The project is focused on training these young women  in personal citizen
journalism.  The students post a minimum of
once a week on an assigned topic.  Each
week a blog "mentor" posts early in the week to help inspire the
young women. The mentor is an adult blogger from around the world.

So, take a few minutes to read their work and leave a comment.  I've
been told by Katy Pearce, the organizer, that the comments have been
excellent motivators for the girls.  Let them know you're listening.
