Boston University To Offer Scholarships To White Students
by lainad

"The worst form of bigotry confronting America today."

While Boston University is not the first school to propose this scholarship, the $250 award is meant to protest scholarships to ethnic minority students.

"Caucasian Achievement and Recognition Scholarship" is meant to raise awareness about racial preferences.

"We know it's ridiculous, but we think it's ridiculous in the same way to give out a Hispanic scholarship or a scholarship based on race in any way shape or form," said BUCR member Joe Mroszczyk.

Eyebrows might be raised when they hear about the application process. Potential applicants - who must be at least one-quarter white - are required to write two essays, one about their ancestry and the other on what it is like to be a Caucasian-American today.I'd love to read some of those essays.

It's sad that people will conveniently ignore the reasons why race-based scholarships exist in the first place. While some cry that they simply want equality, they like to forget that equality among people doesn't exist in society so why should it exist on a college campus? Instead of making a point, it reeks of the fear emanating from some people that the rights and privledges they have become so accustomed to - and feel they deserve over others - is slowly dissappearing. But in reality, they have absoloutely nothing to worry about.

NOTE: Back to Michael Richard's racist rant - if he is given the platform on the David Letterman show to make a half-assed hollow apology and declare that despite making references to lynching and the like, can have the conjones to say he isn't racist, do you really think that by creating a scholarship is really going to make a dent in improving 'equality' among citizens?

this is a joke, right?

ohmygod. I know you're serious, it's just that this is so mind-bogglingly stupid. A scholarship for white folks to help redress historical inequities and current systemic biases. Wow.
