I'm one of those really unfortunate people who only gains weight in one place: My torso. Though some might call me fortunate because it doesn't go to my hips, butt or even my thighs. It's like I swallow the food and the food goes down my esophagus and to my stomach and there it stays. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. There it stays forcing my midsection to puff out and forcing passersby to play the French Fries or Fetus game. Fun for the whole family!
In just a few short weeks, I'll be celebrating ten blissful years of marriage. These last ten years have brought us new jobs, new cities, three beautiful children and for me? Extra weight. Through it all, we haven't had a lot of opportunities to sneak away and celebrate. So when Susan suggested that I use my $50 gift cards from TJ Maxx to look for something to wear to a romantic dinner with my husband, I nodded my head and headed out the door.
Big changes are in store for me. I'm going to return to work after 15 years of being at home. I've been on some interviews and am waiting to hear about a couple of positions (fingers crossed!) and exploring my options. Fortunately, my previous experience looks like it might lead to a great job and I'm getting my ducks in a row while I think about what the future has in store for me.

The Dress:
now... about the "DRESS" (in any medium that suits you) - the dress wears YOU - your soul, your truest innermost SELF - fancy, casual, colorful, basic black... etc., - the "DRESS" is your personae at the Ball - BUT!!!!!!! - don't get hung up on these words - make something fun, surprise yourself, make several as your mood changes and the ideas flow... its not a contest but a co-mingling... together.

My husband has been interviewing with a company across the country. In a few weeks the company will be flying the two of us out to check out the housing and schools. And so I ask, What should I wear? Some info that might help: I am 5'7", 34 D and a bit of a gut, but not a problem if I wear my spanx. Fair skin, dark brown short hair. I am 30 years old and would love something I'd actually be able to wear again, with two babies (well 2 & 4 -they are still babies, right?) I usually slump around in stained t-shirts and worn out jeans. I don't think they'll cut it.

I'm a big believer in personal style, in finding a look that works for you and truly owning it. I'm also sold on the idea that getting dressed in the morning should NOT be the most difficult part of your day. Pulling together an appropriate, comfortable, stylish outfit should be simple, particularly if you have a closet full of clothes that fit your body and your lifestyle and a good sense of what looks great on you.
