Frugal Business Travel Part II: It's so hard to be frugal when someone else is paying for it but you really should try

I'm just now unpacking only to repack for business trip two of five over the next month. Last week, I wrote a post about whether or not business travel is worth it if it's 'just a hobby'. The latter is a phrase I dislike immensely because sometimes hobbies can lead to a more fruitful path. Regardless, this week it's about how to make business travel a little more frugal which is hilarious since I'm packing to go to a resort. On an island. For an actual conference. I'm assuming that all pity for me was lost roughly three sentences ago.

Frugal business travel Part I: Hobby or not, is it worth it?

I'm starting to travel for work again at the rate of a 90 mph where I arrive home just in time to unpack, do laundry and then turn around and hop on another plane. All the while planning additional trips because stress is so very becoming on me. But as I go through the travel process again and again, I'm realizing that since starting my job that requires more time being probed by TSA than actual work, that I do have some good tips on being able to afford all of this travel since it seems that I need to like eat and stay and hotels and stuff.

I didn't say Business travelers were mature, I just said "special".

Not feeling the 'luv'

Over the past seven months I have flown more than anytime in my life. By midnight tonight, my roundtrip flight count will be at 23. That is 23 round trip flights in seven months and this, my friends, is the reason for why I have also had 23 colds and a twitch in my left eye.

The business of travel

At my former place of employment I did a lot of scheduling and booked a lot of travel. Sometimes to places that I wanted to visit like Jackson Hole or Italy and other times to less extravagant places like some random city in Ohio or the always exciting Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I would get jealous of course, when it came to the trips to Juneau or Florence because I’ve always wanted to travel to Juneau or Florence and wouldn’t it be glorious to get to do so for BUSINESS??
