I have made a thrilling discovery. I, too, can have wavy hair. That might not seem like a very big deal to you, but let me explain. My entire life, my hair has been straight as a pin. I've had my fair share of perms -- I did grow up in the 80's, after all -- but when not permed, my locks were straight and pretty limp. Now that I'm older, I've played around with different haircuts that give my hair more body, and keeping it fairly short and layered makes that happen. But, still, it's STRAIGHT.Or is it?
Summer is consistent for me in as many ways as it is not, it turns out. Jobs, schedules and styles all change, but from year to year, I know a few things for sure. I'll complain about the D.C. humidity, but never as much as I complain about ice falling from the sky in the winter. I'll fall in love with fresh white corn and tomatoes all over again (go away, Salmonella, go away.) And every July, I'm likely to be in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for a weeklong family beach vacation that is much a ritual as a getaway.
I parked my car at the beach for five days. I drive a red Dodge Magnum. Seagulls and sea birds must love red cars because they threw a party on my car for five days. Yuk!
