As Tuesday wore on, it became clear that by the end of the night that Barack Obama would be the "presumptive" presidential nominee for the Democratic party.
Superdelegates were dropping like flies throughout the day, declaring their fealty to Obama, after being afraid to for months.

OBAMA HAS CLINCHED THE NOMINATION! WAIT, NO HE HASN'T!
The conflict about the role that race and gender still play in our society is on display for everyone to see in this presidential race. The press says Geraldine Ferraro is a racist for stating that: If [Barack] Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman [of any color], he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.The "lucky" comment, not so artful.

As an ardent John Edwards supporter, today is a sad day for me as he announces he is dropping out of the race for the White House.
