John McCain is like the Ike Turner of the Republican Party. He smacks us around then he comes back with a fistful of compliments, a bouquet of promises, a "John loves you baby."

This was intended to be a short piece about how Chip Saltsman distributed a CD with the political parody "Barack the Magic Negro" set to the tune of "Puff the Magic Dragon," and how people were angry at him and Mike Duncan at the RNC got his days-of-the-week panties in a bunch, but I decided that to write something short and sweet was a) impossible for me to do and b) an insult to the intellectual integrity of this issue.

I have my own personal concerns about this topic, many of which match those of others, but I wanted to let some of these conservative bloggers and Twitterers speak out for themselves.

Before the election, Twitter was a liberal's paradise. I updated with conservative commentary when provoked - or I updated live while on air - only to be drowned out by a pretty antagonistic chorus. Conservative friends who had not yet left the closet would DM me: "OMG you are so taking heat for that one, doesn't it bother you?" It never did, as I have a predilection for swatting hornets' nests; however, it did feel incredibly lonely. Out-and-proud conservatives were few and far between and unconnected for the most part.
