Hot Goss From The Front Lines of BlogHer '08

BlogHer '08 is getting off to a bang!

First, let me say, the ladies are looking fabulous! I have seen many hot summer fashions with many metallic accessories. Bronze is smoking hot right now! We are also being treated to the sight of ridiculously-high wedges that women are somehow impressively able to walk in, albeit not far (I love them!). Many women are also rocking the cool casual looks.

I'm Excited About BlogHer, But I'm Not Sure Why

I'm Excited About BlogHer, But I'm Not Sure Why

I haven't totally wrapped my head around this idea, other than it's
a collection of women's blogs (plus much, much more!) and
advertisements ('cause everybody needs to make money).

So,
right now, I'm just going to say that I'm working on a long-ish article
about women and the internet and my biggest fears are:

1) According to The Atlantic's article "Is Google Making Us Stoopid?", people won't read a long-ish article.

2) I should instead be writing this article for "real" publication.

Project Runway's Season 5 Train Wreck, er, Premiere...

DAHLINGS –

Forgive me for taking so long for writing about the season premiere of “Project Runway.” The viewing party took more recovery time than one expected!

One’s first thought as the purported designers all filed into the bedrooms at the beginning was, “Who are these people, and why do I get the distinct impression most of them smell bad?”

Satire vs. Racism

Satire vs. Racism

Someone at BlogHer just made a great comment (after a discussion about the pictures of Michelle Obama being lynched) and said that satire can be mean, ugly, etc and be OK (and it’s necessary that we allow this) – but that there is a distinction between satire that is okay and satire that portraits the real, deep-seeded, racism that exists in this country.  The racism in the United States is too real and current to be able to make it satire.

Trying to Live Fit at BlogHer '08

I'm surrounded by fabulous bloggers from all over North America here at BlogHer '08
in San Francisco. I'm also surrounded by potential landmines in the
shape of delicious pastries, cookies, candies, and booze. Oh, and did I
mention it's all FREE?

confessions of a bad mother: what's so radical about that?

confessions of a bad mother: what's so radical about that?

There’s nothing radical about the statement “I feel less alone.”
Nothing radical about “I blog to connect with other women out there.”
My God, there’s nothing new about the statement, “My blog is a running
love letter to my children.” Confessing your sins, or confessing your
insecurities, realizing you’re not alone, is about as old as adultery.
