Kids left in the car
There should be severe penalties for leaving a child under the age of 12 in a car unattended by an adult. Children can get into way too much mischief when they are unsupervised. There should be very strict penalties for parents who leave their children in a car unattended, while they decide to go shopping, or stop for something to eat, or to just use the restroom. A mother's worst nightmare can come very true while that child is left unattended in a car.
If parents leave their child(ren) alone in a car, and child protective services doesn't remove the child(ren) from the parents care, cps should still tell the parents they need to get counseling, because of the danger they had put their child(ren) in.
If the parents refuse to see a counselor, psychologist, or psychotherapist, then the child(ren) should be removed from the parents care, and the parents charged with felony child neglect.
Children are truly our God given blessing, and that blessing should never be neglected.
Bless you,
Barbara
Leaving Children in Car Unattended While
Shopping
I agree with everything that you have said in your statement. Not only can child(ren) hurt themselves, but a preditor could approach the vehicle and encourage them to open the door and remove them.
Today, I was a CVS Pharmacy in Robertsdale, AL. I saw a child under the age of 12 in a car unsupervised. The child looked to be around the age of 3 or 4 years of age. I watched for a moment and the parents were not coming out of the store. I immediately called the police. When the police showed up, I approached the officer and told him that I was the one that called. He told me that he would handle it. I watched as he waited for the parents to come out. It had been five minutes or more by now. I look up and the officer gets in his car and drives away. I call the police station back and they said that it had been handled. I told them that this was inappropriate for the parents to do this. She said that I did not know the details. I told her that I was very disappointed in their police department. I could tell that she did not care. This took place at the corner of a very busy intersection and I am angry that the parents just walked and got a warning.
wow
Christy that is awful. Good that you tried to do something about it, but the police not caring is not right.
Our neighbor once left her 5 year old son alone in their car just for a short while so she could run back into the house to get one thing she forgot to bring. She was gone for 2 min and in that time he managed to undo the hand brake (it was a manual car) and when she came back out the car was rolling down the street. She was hysterical. Lucky the boy did not get hurt, but it did teach people that kids can very quickly get into dangerous situations.
