A very dear friend of mine is living through every parent's nightmare.  This could happen to any of us.  I did not write the following post, it was copied from http://hazelana.blogspot.com.  Please pass this on to anyone who has children in their lives.  I am so happy to report that as of tonight H is doing better and breathing on her own.

Is a Bi-Partisan Cabinet Emerging - and Can It Help Us Heal?

Is a Bi-Partisan Cabinet Emerging - and Can It Help Us Heal?

Depends on who you ask.

I've heard from more Democrats than I can count that Barack Obama's numerous appointments of centrist Clinton remnants have them feeling baited and switched; I've heard from multitudes of conservatives who feel disenfranchised that the only Republican in the promised bi-partisan is hold-ever Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates - who is neither a yardstick for Republicans or guaranteed to keep his job for the first year. (It has been said that Chuck Hagel is in the running for an appointment as well.)

Barbie Is In Bondage

When I was a kid I wanted to be strong like Pippi LongStocking because I felt weak and vulnerable. Stripping made me feel powerful for about a hot minute but much of this was illusion. It is difficult for me to talk about the stripping stuff on my mommy blog but many people have requested it so I will certainly try. It's a little weird now that's all. That was a life time ago. It was when I lived very much in my head with a sea of women on what I like to call The Island Of Misfit Toys.

Meet Mialee

by JeriDawn McKellar

Jason and I graduated from Utah State University in Logan, Utah and never left. We love it. We have honestly never ever been around more loving, supportive, open-hearted people. When I found out I was pregnant with Mialee, I already had one little girl. I have since had another little girl.

On the lighter side of things....KUNG FU FIGHTING

Okay...so, to give you all an idea of what I look like, just so you have an initial mental image...I'm short (5'2 ish on a good day), slightly round, blonde, dimples. Okay, I will give you a moment to get this first initial picture in your head. *Singing ABC's backwards*..Alright, I'm assuming the image is there, now...take that image, wrap her in a white martial arts costume complete with belt and hand wraps. Somewhat like a white puff or marshmallow now! :-) Or Po the Panda from Kung Fu Panda!

Secret Millionaire - Reality Show Hit?

Secret Millionaire - Reality Show Hit?

I have to admit I wasn't sure whether I would like this new reality show or not. I will confess I am a reality show junky, which is why I opted to check it out.

What I found intriguing right from the start, were these millionaires going out and living in the poverity. So it's only a week, it seems to be enough time for them to really feel how a majority of people live. I like that they have to do that. I think it is the only way for them to truly know who they are helping and really understand why, instead of it being a mere tax right off to some charity.

The Day Someone Came To Kill All The Women

The Day Someone Came To Kill All The Women

Over at BlogHers Act Canada, we usually focus on two broad sets of issues: the environment and family health. This week, one of our writers opened up a discussion on something that has nothing to do with saving trees or cutting carbon emissions, and that is only tangentially related to health, but something that nonetheless demanded attention for the simple reason that we're women. And for women, the issue of hatred directed violently toward women always deserves and demands our attention.
