10 Ways to Improve Your Writing
by Tammie

The biggest mistake you can make is to attempt to
write about something that does not hold your interest. Everyone knows
something about something or at least an opinion. To become the best
writer that you can be, follow these tips...

1. Topic

Choose
a topic that you like not one that you heard was something good to
write about. If you happen to choose a topic that you no nothing about,
research it, research it, research it until you know it- then start
writing.

2. Voice

Talk to your audience
in a normal voice. Use a tone as if you are having a conversation with
a friend. Talk to your audience- not at them.

3. Content

Your
writing has to engage your reader. It should answer their questions or
solve a problem. Don't have your readers leave with more questions than
you answered.

4. Keep Notes

Take a note
pad everywhere you go. Anytime you think of something, write it down.
It does not have to be in order... organize your thoughts later.

5. Scenery

You'll
be surprised at how a change of scenery can trigger your thoughts.
Instead of writing at your computer, go outside go to the library or
anywhere that may help you overcome writer's block.

6. Other Writers

Study
and read other people's writings but do not copy their work. This is a
great way to get ideas. Then use it to develop your own writing style.

7. Practice

Write
something everyday. Remember, practice makes perfect. Set aside time to
write anything. Decide on weekly, daily, every other day, it does not
matter- just be consistent.

8. Audience

Before
you write your first word...know your audience. Are they children or
business owners? When you know your audience, you will...know what kind
of information is wanted and how to say it.

9. Writing Style

Don't
worry about formal writing. Write to communicate with your audience not
to impress them. Keep your writings on a simply and direct level.

10. Attitude

If
you don't keep a positive attitude about your writing, who else will?
Take your writing seriously. It's easier to write when you are serious
about it and when you enjoy it.

To all potential writers, the
bottom line is this... Your writing will get better when you remain
focused and when your efforts are not forced. Consider two aspects of
yourself; your capability to serve your audience as well as your desire
to succeed.

Kim you're right

These tips are for any new blogger.  I enjoy casual writing.  Writing that is written for everyday people to understand.  I also get inspiration from those who write about things that they enjoy.
